Faculty Member at the College of Law, University of Basra, Receives a PhD (Without Courses) from the University of Baghdad with a Dissertation Titled "Criminal Causation in Iraqi and Comparative Criminal Law"

*The doctoral dissertation in Philosophy of Criminal Law at the University of Baghdad, titled "Criminal Causation in Iraqi and Comparative Criminal Law," was researched by the student Imad Fadel Rikab.*

The dissertation aims to define the meaning and elements of criminal causation, and to determine the criminal responsibility of the causative agent for the criminal result and their criminal status. The penal codes lacked a provision that defines the meaning of criminal causation, which further complicated the issue in light of the absence of thorough examination by positivist criminal jurisprudence on criminal causation. This negatively impacted criminal court decisions regarding the accurate legal characterization of the material incident and the extent of the causative agent’s responsibility for the criminal result.
